“Oh, my boyfriend needs that book…”
November 5th, 2009

Happy Wednesday! I have been running into lots of people that are interested in my book — but that does not always mean they are interested in the topic of siblings-in-Christ. Sometimes I get responses like,

“That’s a wonderful idea for a book! I will buy one for my husband. He needs to learn to be a gentleman.”

Now this makes me happy, grateful for the gratefulness, hopeful that he’ll read it. It is a marvelous beginning! I am not complaining about it at all.

But I try to warn the woman who says this, “Be careful! You ought to know that if he really pays attention, he will try to be brotherly to all his sisters…” which does not mean he will be less faithful in their own relationship (truth be told, good sisters are the kind who help their brothers be good husbands, if anything). I just think it’s fair to let the ladies know what they might be getting into. =)

(I intend for this post to be more than a gripe about people thinking that “treating your sisters-in-Christ beautifully” is an inherently romancey topic — I understand that association, and I am glad they are not dissociated — please keep an eye on me and poke me if I start griping, when I ought to be joyfully teaching people what God joyfully taught silly me).
