Visionary Sisters
October 4th, 2009

Hey all! In lieu (that’s a hard word to spell) of me actually creating new content, allow me to link to some other wonderful corner of the internet again. Here is the link to the Visionary Daughters blog, where Anna Sofia and Elizabeth Botkin write words. They are concerned with all aspects of how a young lady conducts herself — but of special interest to you and me is this wonderful piece on brothers and sisters in Christ. Wonderful! Piece!

I know it’s a long article for your internet attention span to devour, but try, I beg of you.

Actually, I think I will link to this post on the Articles page, too. Yes. I will do this.

I just wanted to say thanks for the link to the visionary daughters article! I found it extremely helpful, and it was, for me, very well-timed. Growing up, I never really had any close friends who were guys; when I was little I didn’t talk to boys; when I got older I still didn’t really talk to them, mostly because I was shy, and was always afraid I would give the wrong impression if I was too friendly. Now, at college, I suddenly find I’m surrounded by more guys, more often, than I’ve ever been before. I would love SO much to be able to have just a simple, honest brother-sister friendship with them. Something inside me has always kind of longed for an older brother, for some reason. Happily, it just so happens that most of the guys at this very small, VERY Christian school, are awesome at just being brothers! (For example– Jake, I think you would probably be proud of them–some of the women’s residences are at the other side of the town, a good ten-minutes’ walk from the school, and through some dark- parkinglot-type areas; if it’s late at night, some of the guys will often offer to walk us home.) I just didn’t really know how I could be a sister to them. The visionary daughters article helped me a LOT with that. So, thank you!
